The National Capital Region (NCR) saw a seven percent uptick in COVID-19 cases from April 24 to 30, according to OCTA Research.
OCTA said in a statement that the NCR's seven-day average of new COVID-19 cases went from 79 from April 17 to 23, to 85 from April 24 to 30.
"The reproduction number increased over the same period from 0.66 to 0.79," OCTA said, through a statement posted by OCTA fellow Guido David.
Despite this increase, OCTA said the positivity rate in the NCR remained at 1.4% over an average of 11,544 tests per day.
Healthcare utilization for COVID-19 also remained very low at 21%, according to OCTA.
The uptick of cases came just days ahead of the 2022 national and local elections, which will see millions flock to voting precincts to cast their votes.
The Department of Health previously said that it continues to monitor case trends nationwide while assuring that the recent increase in reproduction number is small and not sustained.
"The public is likewise highly encouraged to get fully vaccinated if you have yet to do so and boosted if you have completed the primary series of vaccines," the department said.
