The National Capital Region (NCR) is now classified under low-risk level amid the continuous decline of its reproduction number and a decreasing seven-day average of COVID-19 cases, according to independent pandemic monitoring group OCTA Research.
OCTA said the seven-day average of COVID-19 cases in NCR dropped to 945 from February 3 to 9.
In the same week, the one-week average daily attack rate also decreased to 6.67, the reproduction number dipped to 0.25, and the positivity rate plunged to 9.1%.
Its healthcare utilization also improved to 30%, while the intensive care unit level was at 32%.
"As predicted two weeks ago, NCR improves to low risk as of February 9, 2022," said OCTA fellow Guido David on Twitter.
OCTA uses different risk level classifications, with its indicators based on Covidactnow.org.
The downgrade to a low-risk level in NCR comes after Wednesday's 548 new cases, with Quezon City tallying the highest new reported infections with 108.
"We expect numbers to increase tomorrow but this is tracking below our Jan 20 projections," said David on NCR's fresh cases.
The country on Wednesday reported 3,651 new COVID-19 cases, with active infections down to 96,326.
