Fresh COVID-19 cases in the National Capital Region (NCR) doubled on Thursday, with OCTA Research pinning it on a possible "Valentine spike."
The NCR reported 632 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, more than double the 301 cases the day before.
"With mostly fresh cases, this feels like a Valentine spike," said OCTA fellow Guido David.
According to David, the fresh cases are more than the projected 350 cases in the NCR for Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the 2,671 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday also went a little higher than OCTA's projected total.
"2,671 new cases today, a little higher than the projected range (2k to 2500)," said David.
The country still has 68,829 active COVID-19 cases, where 63,037 of them are mild cases.
"Let's continue to practice health protocols. The virus is still here," David said.
