The Metro Manila Development Authority on Monday said the number coding scheme will be suspended on February 1.

This is due to the celebration of the Chinese New Year, according to the MMDA.

"Suspendido ang pagpapatupad ng Modified Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program o number coding scheme mula 5pm hanggang 8 pm sa Pebrero 1, Martes, selebrasyon ng Chinese New Year," MMDA said in an advisory.

(The implementation of the Modified Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program or number coding scheme from 5pm to 8pm on February 1, Tuesday, is suspended in celebration of Chinese New Year.)

"Ibig sabihin, ang mga sasakyang may plakang nagtatapos sa 3 at 4 na sakop ng coding tuwing Martes ay maaaring bumiyahe sa mga pangunahing lansangan ng Metro Manila sa coding hours na mula 5 pm hanggang 8 pm."

(This means that cars with plate numbers ending in 3 and 4 that are covered by coding every Tuesday may hit the roads in Metro Manila during coding hours from 5pm to 8pm.)

The Chinese New Year is set on February 1, marking the year of the Water-Tiger.
