The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) issued on Wednesday a text blast warning Filipinos to not fall for the scam messages they have been receiving from texts recently.
"BABALA! Huwag maniwala sa text na diumano'y nagaalok ng trabaho," the message read, which was sent around 8AM to phone users.
(WARNING! Don’t believe text messages that are allegedly offering jobs.)
It labeled such messages as scam and urged Filipinos to not entertain them.
"Huwag magbigay ng personal na impormasyon. Ito po ay isang scam."
(Don’t give them your personal information. It is a scam.)
The message comes after the NTC ordered telecommunication companies in a memorandum dated on Friday to rollout a text blast containing the warning from NTC.
A growing number of Filipinos recently raised their complaints on suspicious messages containing job offers that they have been receiving through text.
The National Privacy Commission said that a global crime syndicate is behind the scam messages, and refuted suspicions that they are from unauthorized use of contact tracing forms.
