Upholding their mission for road safety, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Region VI has taken action against a motorcycle rider performing a dangerous stunt, in accordance with directives from President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr.
The decision follows guidance from Department of Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon, aimed at holding reckless motorists accountable.
The viral incident occurred on July 13, 2025, when a rider on a Honda Click motorcycle was filmed executing a dangerous maneuver known as the “Superman” stunt, lying flat on the seat while speeding along Orange Cliff in Don Salvador Benedicto. This reckless behavior drew widespread criticism on social media, highlighting the danger posed to both the rider and the public.
In the LTO records, it was revealed that the rider does not possess a valid driver’s license, compounding the seriousness of the violation.
LTO-6 Regional Director Atty. Gaudioso P. Geduspan II reviewed the case and approved a resolution from the agency’s Intelligence and Investigation Unit Chief, Ms. Shiela Mae C. Alulod, to disqualify the rider from ever obtaining a driver’s license.
“This act posed a serious risk to public safety and is a blatant violation of safe driving practices,” the resolution emphasized.
On July 14, a Show Cause Order was issued to the motorcycle’s registered owner, who acknowledged lending the vehicle to the rider. In response, the rider admitted to performing the stunt, claiming it was intended for a photo opportunity and that he was only traveling at about 24 km/h.
Under Section 48 of Republic Act No. 4136, or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code, reckless driving occurs when a vehicle is operated without caution or in a manner that risks life or property.
As a penalty, LTO-6 has placed the rider's name on its alarm list, effectively exempting him from receiving a driver's license in the future. He will also incur fines for both ‘Reckless Driving’ and ‘Driving Without a Valid Driver's License’ as outlined in Joint Administrative Order No. 2014-01. Furthermore, he is mandated to participate in a Driver’s Reorientation Seminar facilitated by the Traffic Safety Unit.
The LTO-6 reiterates its commitment to vigilance, monitoring social media to identify and address similar hazardous stunts and collaborating with local law enforcement to ensure public safety.
“Our priority is to protect the public by enforcing road safety regulations consistently and transparently,” Director Geduspan stated.
