The Southern Police District (SPD) has reported no security threats for the Heroes' Parade honoring the Philippine Olympians, which will take place today, August 14.
After a thorough inspection along the roads of the CCP Complex, Pasay City on Wednesday morning, where the parade is set to begin, Police Lt. Jeffrey Oliver, team leader of the Rapid Deployment Company of the District Mobile Force Battalion, confirmed that no security concerns were detected in the area.
An estimated crowd of 10,000 to 15,000 people is expected to attend the event, according to Emmanuel Miru, head of Special Events at the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.
The parade will begin at 3 p.m. at the Aliw Theater and will conclude at Rizal Memorial Stadium. Seventeen athletes will ride on three ten-wheeler trucks transformed into floats for the event.
Miru advised motorists to use alternative routes to avoid traffic disruptions.
