Senator Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa stated that he has been stripped of his police security in Davao City.
In a phone interview with the media, Dela Rosa confirmed that two members of his security detail in Davao, who typically stay at his residence, had been recalled and instructed to report to their respective units.
He recounted that he was allegedly taken aback upon arriving in Davao and discovering that his police security had been pulled out, following a recall order from their superiors.
However, he acknowledged that he understands the move, as PNP officials are only being careful, especially with the current pressure they face from the administration.
Furthermore, he noted that it wasn’t a significant concern for him, as retired soldiers and police officers had willingly offered to handle his security upon his arrival in Davao.
He also mentioned that no threats were posed in Manila, as his trusted police security from the PNP Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG) continues to be assigned to him.
Meanwhile, in a Facebook post on Tuesday, the Senator shared that after his security detail was recalled by the PNP, retired police officers and soldiers began volunteering to replace them.
"They have no firearms but they are equipped w/ [with] kamote, balanghoy, saging, manok Bisaya & ready to survive w/ [with] me. Very heartwarming," said Dela Rosa.
