The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) will place Luzon and Visayas grids under yellow alert status on Tuesday afternoon, April 30.
In an advisory, the yellow alert in the Luzon grid will take effect from 2 PM to 4 PM and 8 PM and 10 PM.
"4 plants have been on forced outage since 2023, 3 between January and March 2024, and 13 since April 2024; while 1 other is running on a derated capacity, for a total of 1,369.3MW unavailable to the grid," NGCP said.
The Luzon grid’s available capacity is at 14,950 megawatts (MW), while peak demand stands at 13,902MW.
The Visayas grid, meanwhile, will be placed under yellow alert from 1 PM to 4 PM; 6 PM to 7 PM; and 8 PM to 9 PM.
The available capacity of the Visayas grid is 2,881MW but the peak demand is 2,580MW.
"1 plant has been on forced outage since 2022, 2 since 2023, 2 between January and March 2024, and 15 power plants are on forced outage, while 8 are running on derated capacities, for a total of 571.9MW unavailable to the grid," the Philippine power grid operator noted.
