At the awarding ceremony of the 1st VIP Billiard Hall Women's 9-Ball Tournament are Vei Cabagnot, pool hall co-owner; Jolly Jamero, runner-up; Chastine Co, champion; and Julis Coral, pool hall owner.

After two days of competition, Chastine Co of Quezon City emerged as champion and Jolly Jamero of Makati City came in as first runner-up at the conclusion of the 1st VIP Billiard Hall Women's 9-Ball Tournament.

Co went home with the tournament trophy and the champion’s pot of Php20,000, while Jamero walked away with a plaque and Php10,000.

The tourney involving 40 female participants was held on Oct. 21 and Oct. 22 at the VIP Billiard Hall located near the corner of Roxas Blvd. and Sen. Gil Puyat Ave.

According to VIP Billiard Hall owner Julis Coral, “We initially had a cap of 32 participants, but we were pleasantly surprised that 24 players confirmed on the very first day we announced the tourney on social media.

“That’s why we upped the maximum number of participants to 40.”

The pool hall was opened on Sept. 1 by Coral and co-owner Vei Cabagnot, both professional engineers, avid pool players, and members of the Makati Pool Players Association (MAPPA).

“Even at this early stage of our venture, we are thankful for the support from our long-time friends at MAPPA,” Cabagnot said.

Coral added that he wants the hall, which has 8 tables spread across some 400 sqm., to be known as a beginner-friendly venue that embraces everyone who wants to find out and experience the joys of pool.
