National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Brig. Jose Melencio Nartatez admitted to the lapses made by the police during the investigation.

In a televised interview, Nartatez stated that the police should have arrested Wilfredo Gonzales if only the investigation had been conducted properly.

He stressed that amid the settlement between the two parties, they should have investigated it properly by checking the viral video and the available CCTV footage. In that way, Gonzales could have been put under arrest.

The NCRPO chief also slammed the actions of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) for allowing Gonzales to conduct a press conference, saying that QCPD chief Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III has ordered the arrest of the former police.

Moreover, Nartatez mentioned that he has already formed an investigation group to investigate the possible blunders committed during the investigation and will investigate the slip-ups that the QCPD chief committed as well as the Galas Police.

Meanwhile, Gonzales is now facing accusations of alarm and scandal, as the Philippine National Police (PNP) also plans to file additional cases against him.
