The COVID-19 positivity rate in the National Capital Region (NCR) has climbed up to 22.9% as of May 7, according to Dr. Guido David, a member of OCTA Research.
However, he also pointed out that the increase in the positivity rate has slowed down from 17.8% on April 30, rising only by 5.1% in the last seven days.
David added that the peak of the trend might occur within the next week and the positivity rate could fall short of the 25% threshold.
“The increasing trend is slowing down, and the peak could happen within the next week or so. The positivity rate could also miss the 25% mark,” he said.

It is worth noting that the daily infection numbers from May 1 to 7 are already double the DOH's projected range of 289 to 611 daily infections.
The DOH has previously explained that the positivity rate only represents the number of individuals who tested positive among those who took RT-PCR tests and does not reflect the entire population of the country.
