Operatives from the National Bureau of Investigation - Pampanga District Office (NBI-PAMDO), in coordination with other agencies, have arrested a man for his involvement in the murder of an NBI agent’s son.
In a press briefing on Tuesday, the NBI presented the individual apprehended in Purok Wakas, Barangay Mambog, Malolos City, Bulacan after evading authorities for months.
The Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 78 in Baguio City had issued an arrest warrant for the man on charges of murder and attempted murder.
The incident occurred on November 24 of last year, when the arrested individual shot and killed the agent’s son at around 1:30 a.m. in Happy Homes, Barangay Ferdinand, Baguio City. Witnesses later revealed that the victim was not the intended target.
Following the shooting, he went into hiding, frequently changing locations between Baguio City, Pangasinan, and La Union, as confirmed by technical surveillance.
In response, the NBI formed a task force comprising agents from PAMDO, the Technical Intelligence Division (TID), the Ilocos Regional Office (IRO), the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), and the Dagupan District Office (DADO).
Despite the accused's continued efforts to evade capture, the Task Force's persistent intelligence-gathering eventually pinpointed his whereabouts.
On February 14, technical surveillance by the TID traced the individual to Barangay Mambog, Malolos City, Bulacan. NBI-PAMDO agents then conducted physical surveillance, confirming his location inside his aunt’s apartment, where he was finally apprehended.
The accused is currently detained at NBI-PAMDO while awaiting a Commitment Order from the court.
