The Department of Justice (DOJ) has created a Public Works Corruption and Bid-Rigging Task Force to focus on the investigation of the controversial flood control projects.
National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Jaime Santiago told DZRH that Prosecutor General Richard Anthony Fadullon has been designated as chairperson of the task force.
Santiago added that the NBI’s Public Corruption Division will serve as the lead investigator into alleged irregularities in the flood control projects.
Santiago explained that although Justice Secretary Boying Remulla is still finalizing the composition of the task force, he has already mobilized his Deputy Director for Investigation to begin preliminary work.
He also revealed that the NBI plans to submit its initial report on the alleged irregularities in the flood control projects to the DOJ on Tuesday or Wednesday.
According to Santiago, the NBI is also ready to cooperate with the Independent Commission for Infrastructure recently formed by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to ensure a thorough and coordinated investigation.
The new task force aims to expedite and deepen the probe into complaints of corruption and bid rigging involving certain projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
