The National Museum of Fine Arts will be temporarily shuttered from June 6 to July 4 to give way for the inauguration of President-elect Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.

In a statement, the National Museum of the Philippines said it is honored to be selected by the president-elect as the venue for his inauguration on June 30.

"To allow for special preparations and arrangements to be presided over by the Inauguration Committee, we will need to temporarily close the National Museum of Fine Arts," said the National Museum of the Philippines.

"Please be notified that the National Museum of Fine Arts at the Old Legislative Building, Padre Burgos Drive, Manila, will be closed from Monday, June 6, until Monday, July 4. It will reopen on Tuesday, July 5, at 9 a.m."

"We apologize for any inconvenience, and express our thanks for your understanding."

Meanwhile, the National Museum of Anthropology and National Museum of Natural History will remain open until further notice, said the management.

The National Museum of Fine Arts is a National Historical Landmark first built in 1926 and was rebuilt in 1949 after the Second World War.

It previously served as the country’s Legislative Building before becoming an establishment housing the largest public assemblage of Philippine fine arts.
