The nation will pay tribute to National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Nora Cabaltera Villamayor, more popularly known as Nora Aunor, through a necrological service on Tuesday, April 22, at the Metropolitan Theater in Manila.
The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) are leading the tribute to commemorate Aunor’s extraordinary legacy in Philippine arts and culture.
Arrival honors will commence at 8:30 AM, followed by a tribute program at 9:00 AM.
The service will culminate with state funeral rites at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City.
Aunor died of acute respiratory failure on April 16 at the age of 71.
Known as the "Superstar," she was a celebrated film, television, and theater actor, a distinguished singer, and a film producer whose influence spanned generations.
In 2022, Aunor was conferred the Order of National Artist by the Office of the President, the country’s highest recognition for individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Philippine arts and culture.
The public is welcome to attend the necrological service, though seating will be limited. Registration details will be announced on Monday through the official social media accounts of the CCP and NCCA.
For those who cannot attend in person, the service will be livestreamed via the CCP and NCCA Facebook pages, allowing fans and admirers to pay their final respects to the Philippine Superstar.
Aunor's wake was held at Heritage Park in Taguig, with a public viewing on Saturday and Sunday. She will be laid to rest on April 22.
