Authorities from the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG) intercepted a package containing suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu at the Central Mail Exchange Center on Domestic Road, Pasay City on Monday, June 2.

According to Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Regional Office NCR (PDEA RO-NCR), the illegal drugs with an estimated value of ₱6,854,400.00, was found in a 28-year-old female suspect, identified by the alias "Ruth".

The PDEA RO-NCR reported that the confiscated package had been declared as “ladies’ wear and bags” and was shipped from Ontario, Canada.

Ruth—listed as the consignee—claimed she had no knowledge that the package contained illegal drugs.

During the inspection, authorities uncovered multiple self-sealing plastic bags concealed in foil and cling wrap, containing around one kilogram of a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu.

Authorities also confiscated a mobile phone, a notice card, and multiple identification cards, including one under the consignee’s name and others determined to be fake and issued under various aliases.

The suspect is currently in custody and will be charged for violating Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
