A high-value drug suspect was apprehended by authorities after seizing P6.8 million worth of illegal drugs weighing one kilo, on Thursday afternoon in Balanga City, Bataan.
Bataan Police Provincial Director Colonel Marites Salvadora reported that the buy-bust operation happened in front of Don Pepe Subdivision 4-lane Barangay Tuyo, Balanga City, where they recovered a kilo of Shabu or crystal methamphetamine.
In an interview with DZRH, Police Lieutenant Colonel Victor Cacdac, Balanga City PNP Chief, said they conducted nearly a month-long surveillance on the suspect. They carried out test-buy operations almost daily to confirm the suspect’s involvement and activities in the illegal drugs.
Earlier, the suspect offered to sell 100 grams of drugs to undercover operatives through a messaging app. Once the deal was made and the poseur-buyer, who was a police officer, completed the purchase, the suspect was immediately arrested during a frisk which then discovered a larger stash of drugs.
The arrested suspect and the evidence are now in the custody of the Balanga City Police Station for proper documentation and processing. The suspect will be facing charges for violating RA 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Authorities are conducting follow-up operations to determine the source of the large drug supply and identify the suspect’s accomplices in the illegal drug trade in Bataan.
