A passenger of MRT-3 was injured after a "scavenger" threw a stone towards one of the train's coaches early Sunday morning.
According to the MRT-3 Management in a statement, the victim is a 51-year-old male who was later taken to a Pasay hospital to receive medical aid.
"The passenger was immediately attended to and was given first aid at the Magallanes Station. He was later brought to the San Juan De Dios Hospital at Pasay for further medical attention," the statement said.
Based on their initial report, a scavenger threw the stone at 6:51 a.m. at the MRT-3 Taft Avenue Station, causing "severe damage" to one of the train's windows.
The scavenger was later caught in a construction site near a hotel along Taft Avenue, said the management, adding that legal charges will be filed against those involved.
It added that the incident is already under further investigation and necessary measures will be taken to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
Meanwhile, Department of Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade had strong words against the person behind the incident.
"'Yung ganitong g@g*ng tao ay dapat na nakukulong!!!" he said on a Facebook post.
(This person should be arrested.)
He also shared pictures of the train's shattered windows and an image of the passenger who was hit by the stone.
