MMFF reveals 2023 lineup, expands entries to 10

The line up of the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) was revealed on Tuesday, Oct. 17, expanding the traditional eight entries to 10.

In a Facebook Live, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chief Romando Artes announced the official entries to the 49th MMFF by showing the trailers of films chosen by the selection committee.

Below are the remaining batch of official entries.

“When I Met You In Tokyo” starring Vilma Santos and Christopher de Leon

“Becky and Badette” starring Pokwang and Eugene Domingo

“Mallari” starring Piolo Pascual

“Firefly” starring Alessandra de Rossi, Cherry Pie Picache, and Epi Quizon

“Broken Hearts Trip” starring Chrisitan Bables, Teejay Marquez, and Andoy Ranay

“Gomburza” starring Enchong Dee, Dante Rivero, and Cedrick Juan

MMFF earlier announced the first batch of entries in July.

“A Mother and Son’s Story” starring Alden Richards and Sharon Cuneta

“K(ampon)” starring Beauty Gonzales and Derek Ramsay

“Penduko” starring Matteo Guidicelli and Cristine Reyes

“Rewind” starring Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes

The criteria for the official entries were based on their artistic excellence (40%), commercial appeal (40%), global appeal (10%), and Filipino cultural sensibility (10%).

The 49th MMFF will run from December 25 to January 7 in theaters nationwide.

The MMFF is a yearly film festival spearheaded by the MMDA to shine light on Filipino produced films.
