Miss Universe El Salvador released statement addressing Instagram post mistake
by Daylight Abas23 November 2023

Miss Universe El Salvador has finally released a statement, clarifying and apologizing for the mistake regarding the inclusion of Philippines’ bet Michelle Dee in the Top 5 through an Instagram post released during the competition.

As Miss Thailand was announced as the last candidate included in the final five, the post was suddenly deleted and replaced. However, eagle-eyed fans noticed and took a screenshot before it was completely deleted.

In its statement, the organizers said that they were in a hurry to get the results out and had accidentally mixed up the two finalists, and there were no special changes in the result.

“Our mistake! In the rush to get our posts up during Saturday’s live broadcast, we accidentally mixed up the names of two finalists. This was a simple error of moving too fast—we heard the same results live at the same time that you all did—no special access over here! We’re sorry to both finalists,” they wrote.

Pinoy fans could not help but feel dismayed about the result and the mistake, recalling how the prestigious pageant’s previous host, Steve Harvey, apologized when he accidentally announced Miss Colombia as the winner instead of Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach.
