Miles Ocampo announced that she is now cancer-free following her battle with thyroid cancer.

The Filipina actress shared with broadcaster Karen Davila’s vlog that after undergoing thyroid surgery last year, the remaining cancer cells were treated through radiation.

“After my operation, may mga naiwan pa pong cancer cells na medyo kumalat so nag-radiation pa ‘ko pero oral lang this time,” she said.

Ocampo added that despite being cancer-free, she would be under maintenance medication for life.

“Yes, I’m cancer-free but ‘yun na nga maintenance for life. Yung meds ko habambuhay na siya and doon na ako naka-base, kumbaga 'yung weight ko rin doon na siya magbi-base kung papayat o tataba. Kasi every 2 months kailangan kong magpa-blood test para i-check kung i-adjust ba 'yung dosage,” she said.

When asked if she experienced depression during that time, Ocampo said she felt depressed after the operation.

“After kasi [ng operation] nag-bloat talaga sobra as in [...] dadating talaga yung ayoko talaga lumabas. Parang lahat ng damit ko walang magkasya, so depressing po,” the actress said.

“Umabot na lang ako sa point na ay napapagod na ko ma-depress dahil sa weight ko, napapagot na ko isipin kung anong iisipin ng ibang tao. Parang one day, okay na ko. Wala na kong pake kung anong sasabihin niyo sa weight ko kasi alam ko naman kung anong totoo,” she added.
