Glaiza de Castro has officially joined the cast of the “Bar Boys” sequel!
On Monday, May 26, the film’s Facebook page announced that the multi-awarded actress had joined the cast of “Bar Boys: After School.”
The 2017 film, “Bar Boys,” was written and directed by Kip Oebanda, whom Glaiza had already worked with for the 2018 Cinemalaya film “Liway.”
Based on a separate social media post, “Bar Boys: After School” would follow the law school barkada’s bittersweet 10th-year reunion after knowing that one of their mentors is deathly ill.
“A law school barkada's tenth-year reunion becomes bittersweet when they find out that one of their beloved mentors is deathly ill, all alone and abandoned by the family,” its summary reads. “They take the place of the said family. In return, they learn lessons that only life and the passage of time can teach - about integrity, self-improvement, and finding meaning in what you do.”
Oebanda also mentioned that new students would be introduced in the upcoming film and that all women had been cast. However, not all are “bar” boys per se.
Glaiza swept nominations for Oebanda’s “Liway,” and garnered multiple Best Actress awards for the Film Academy of the Philippines Awards and the FACINE Gold for Best Actress in San Francisco.
Apart from this, she had also been recognized for other projects like “Sleepless,” “Rakenrol," and “Patikul.” She is also known for her role in the television series, “Ecantadia.”
Meanwhile, “Bar Boys” is a 2017 comedy-drama film about a group of friends and their journey through law school. It stars Rocco Nacino, Carlo Aquino, Enzo Pineda, and Kean Cipriano.
