Mcdonald's Philippines recently trended in all social media platforms as many netizens buzz about its latest commercial advertisement video that has an LGBGT-QIA+ theme.
The 56-second advertisement was released four days before June, also known as Pride Month, a month dedicated to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender.
In the video ad, a woman is seen wearing a helmet and riding her skateboard as she orders one cheeseburger in a drive-thru.
A female Mcdonald's crew asks if the burger has fries and drinks.
"Ala carte lang. Thank you!" the woman riding her skateboard replied.
After getting her order, she comes back again but this time for medium fries.
And for the third time around, she orders one large iced coffee original and reasoned that she just got "thirsty".
The scene then transitioned to Mcdonald's crew, who seems just gotten off her shift, offering a sundae of ice cream to the skater girl for her dessert.
"Like your sundae cone, baka matunaw," the Mcdonald's crew jokingly said when the girl stares at her.
Both of them then left the Mcdonald's branch with their hands intertwined as they walk.
The famous fast-food chain captioned the video with "Love na babalik-balikan #LoveKoAll".
Many netizens expressed how they were touched by the advertisement, saying that they wished advertisements that are inclusive exists back in their days.
"Thank you so much for this, as a Filipino millennial who didn't grow up seeing advertisements like these on TV, it makes me so happy that the future generation can then see themselves and be proud of who they are. This made me cry of happiness," one netizen said.
Some also said that the representation of other genders in the media matters.
"Wish there were commercials like this when we were younger. But very happy for the younger generation. Representation matters! Hope it's not only during Pride months as well. Because love is love and this kind of love is normal and should be celebrated every day not only on specific months," another one commented.
