Nearly 1,000 families were displaced on Saturday after a massive fire broke out along Aroma Road 10, Barangay 105 in Tondo, Manila, prompting authorities to raise the alert to Task Force Bravo.

According to Manila Social Welfare Director Re Fugoso, this equates to around 5,000 individuals, with seven injured.

At exactly 6:23 PM, it was announced that the fire that had broken out was under control. It took over 12 hours to control the fire, which was finally put out at midnight.

The Bureau of Fire Protection reported that nine buildings were affected by the incident, with five sustaining damage.

The fire spread rapidly through the houses built from light materials. The cause of the blaze and the damage assessment are still being reviewed.
