A man believed to be between 50 and 60 years old was found dead on Thursday morning, July 24, during heavy rainfall in Tondo, Manila.

According to the Manila Police District (MPD), the body was discovered around 7:00 a.m. at the corner of Quiricada and Yakal Streets in Barangay 253.

In a report by RH Boy Gonzales, a witness, Sosimo Genita told investigators that he last saw the man alive at around 5:00 a.m., though he appeared weak and was soaking wet from the rain.

Residents reportedly placed the man on a pushcart to offer some assistance.

However, when Genita returned hours later, the man was no longer breathing. He immediately sought help from barangay officials, who then alerted police.

Initial investigation suggests the man may have died of natural causes, but the MPD Homicide Section is conducting a deeper probe to determine the exact cause of death.

Meanwhile, according to the report of the Philippine National Police (PNP) as of July 23, twelve people have been reported dead due to the combined impact of the recent Tropical Storm #CrisingPH and the intensified southwest monsoon or habagat.
