The Marikina River's water level receded to its first alarm mark on Thursday morning, as reported by the local government unit of Marikina.
As of 7 a.m., the river's water level measured 15.4 meters, down from 15.8 meters at 5 a.m., according to the latest data from the Sto. Niño Water Level Gauging Station.
Rainfall contributions from Mt. Oro (1 mm) and Nangka (2 mm) have influenced the current condition of the Marikina River.
Yesterday afternoon, the river peaked at 20.2 meters, prompting the "forced evacuation" of residents from low-lying areas.
PAGASA noted that Typhoon Carina is weakening as it crosses Taiwan, reducing the likelihood of direct heavy rainfall over the country.
Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon, intensified by Carina, is expected to bring moderate to intense rainfall across various areas in the western part of Luzon from today until Saturday.
