

Residents from Marikina City braved the strong wind and heavy downpour of rain going to the evacuation area while 2nd alarm was raised in Marikina River on Monday, July 21, caused by the continuous heavy rain brought by the southwest monsoon or ‘habagat’.
As of 4:40PM, Marikina river is already on 2nd alarm with 16.4 meters water level.
While according to Mayor Maan Teodoro, as of 4:00 PM 1,642 individuals and 348 familes individuals are now in evacuation areas , this is after the notice of the authorities to do pre-emptive evacuation once the river hits the 2nd alarm.
[UPDATE] As of 4:50PM, families and residents continues to evacuate, total 711 families or 3,858 individuals have already been evacuated according to Mayor Teodoro. Meanwhile 11 evacuation centers are ready to cater the residents of Marikina.

According to the interview with Marikina City Councilor Jaren Feliciano at DZRH News program Rapido Hataw Balita, mobilizations and preparation for evacuation are quickly done. Marikina LGU are still advising those residents from low-lying areas or nearby the river to evacuate and proceed to the designated evacuation center to avoid any accidents caused by the rain and flood.
