President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday witnessed the commissioning of two new Navy vessels—BRP Miguel Malvar and BRP Albert Magini—during the Philippine Navy’s 127th anniversary celebration in Subic, Zambales.
RH Leth Narciso reported that the BRP Miguel Malvar, one of the warships acquired from South Korea, arrived in the Philippines just this April.
The said vessel is equipped with advanced sensors and weapon systems and is designed for long-range, multi-role combat operations.
Moreover, the BRP Albert Magini is the country’s first locally assembled, missile-capable patrol vessel.
During his speech at the event, President Marcos, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief, commended the Philippine Navy for their steadfast and dedicated service in the face of maritime challenges.
He noted that such bravery and skill inspire the entire armed forces, as seen in the Navy’s repeated efforts to protect the West Philippine Sea and other strategic maritime locations.
Marcos reiterated that government forces will not tolerate any threats to national security and will continue to uphold the country’s rights in accordance with international law.
Ultimately, he emphasized that the government will not surrender or allow any territory to be compromised and will continue to strengthen the capabilities of the Armed Forces.
This year’s Philippine Navy anniversary theme is: "Addressing Challenges, Promoting Regional Stability, and Strengthening Maritime Security."
