President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. on Monday said his second State of the Nation Address (SONA) will be "very simple" and will focus on listing the "significant progress" his administration has done since he assumed office in June 2022.
Speaking before reporters on the sidelines of the distribution of government assistance in Pampanga, the President said he will be making a report to the people on "what we talked about last year and these are what we’ve already done and these are the inadequacies that we will address."
"It’s really very simple. It’s just a performance report for Filipinos [for them] to see, with the numerous pronouncements and numerous utterances, if these were really meaningful or were just words," Marcos said.
"That’s what I want to explain to the people: that we have made significant progress. We can see the difference now, not only in terms of how the systems work, how the government works; it is also how we are seen or judged in the international community. That’s equally important," he continued.
Marcos, who is set to deliver his SONA on July 24, revealed that he has yet to finish writing his speech.
At least 2,000 guests are expected to attend the President's state address to be held at Batasan Pambansa Complex next week.
