President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. is confident that the relationship between the Philippines and Japan will further strengthen.

In a courtesy call from Party Chief Representative Hon. Yamaguchi Natsuo in Malacañang, Marcos said it will strengthen not only in matters of trade and investment but also in security and defense.

"In the past, it could be said that the largest part of our interaction between our two countries were always in terms of trade, in terms of development, in terms of ODA (Official Development Assistance)," Marcos said.

The President also acknowledged Japan's assistance in maintaining security and defense in Southeast Asia to maintain peace in Southeast Asia and neighboring countries.

Meanwhile, Marcos expressed concerned about North Korea's actions, such as the launch of missiles and weapon tests, for which Japan was placed on heightened alert.

Recently, the Japanese Embassy conducted a study session in the Philippines regarding developing AI Tools for better disaster and crisis management.
