Former Senator Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. had high praises for his running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte and described his tandem with her as the best one for the upcoming 2022 elections.
"Itong pagsanib pwersa na ito ang pinakamagandang partnership sa election na ito - sa national election na ito," he told DZRH in an interview.
(This combined force is the best partnership in this election – in this national election.)
According to Marcos, his partnership with Duterte created a "synergy" that helped boost their chances for next year's polls.
"Sa palagay ko ay nagkaroon ng tinatawag na synergy at nakatulong siya sa akin, at nakatulong din ako sa kanya at kaya naman talagang ipinaglaban namin ang pagsasama na yan," he said.
(I think we created a synergy where she helped me and I also helped her. This is why we really fought for this partnership.)
He made the remarks after topping various presidential surveys across different groups, including the recently released Desisyon 2022 by DZRH, where the former senator led by a significant margin against other presidential aspirants.
Despite this, he said he refrains from complacency as there are still months before the 2022 national elections.
"Maganda 'yung survey pero after five minutes, kinakalimutan ko na 'yan, balik sa trabaho dahil mahirap naman na maging complacent na masabi ay tapos, hindi na kailangan wala nang kailangang gawin," he said.
(The survey is good but after five minutes, I forget about them. I return to work because it is hard to be complacent and assume the work is done, that there is nothing else to do.)
However, he expressed gratitude to those who supported him in the survey, as well as his running mate Mayor Sara Duterte, who he said also contributed to his position in current presidential polls.
"Maraming salamat sa lahat ng nakilahok sa survey at nagparamdam ng inyong suporta at ng inyong tiwala sa aming tambalan ni Inday Sara saka sarili ko ay maraming salamat sa inyong suporta," he said.
