Mamamayang Liberal (ML) Congresswoman-elect Atty. Leila de Lima expressed cautious optimism, underscoring that the effectiveness of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s Cabinet revamp hinges on the President’s sincerity and leadership resolve.
In a statement issued Thursday, De Lima has warned that without a clear display of sincerity and decisive leadership from the President, the move may do little to shift public perception.
Moreover, De Lima acknowledged that a Cabinet reorganization, if executed effectively, could serve as a much-needed “reset” in the second half of the President’s term.
“It reflects an awareness that the public expects more—more coherence, more competence, and more decisive leadership from this government,” De Lima posted in her Facebook account.
But she was quick to caution that the success of any such revamp hinges not merely on structural changes, but on Marcos's personal demonstration of strong and principled leadership.
“Pero, kailangan munang ipakita ni PBBM: first, his sincerity, and second, his decisiveness and firmness in his governance,” she said.
De Lima warned that without these qualities, the public perception that Marcos is becoming a "lame duck" president will persist.
“Otherwise, magpapatuloy ang nagiging perception ng marami na isa na siyang lame duck na pangulo,” she stated.
Marcos has yet to release official details regarding the scope or timing of the Cabinet overhaul.
