Outgoing Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Police General Rommel Francisco Marbil has called on the entire police force to give their full support to the incoming head of the PNP, Police Major General Nicolas Torre III.

In a statement, Marbil expressed confidence that Torre will be able to continue the internal reform initiatives and the campaign against criminality.

"Si PMGen Torre ay isang masipag, subok na at may matatag na prinsipyong opisyal. Buo ang aking tiwala na kanyang ipagpapatuloy ang pamumuno sa PNP nang may integridad at malinaw na direksyon. Hinihikayat ko ang bawat pulis at kawani ng PNP na ibigay sa kanya ang parehong suporta at kooperasyon na inyong ipinagkaloob sa akin," said Marbil.

Marbil also expressed optimism that Torre—currently the Director of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)—will continue the success of the anti-crime campaign, which has resulted in 'a noticeable improvement in peace and order in the country.'

Torre makes history as the first 'Lakan' from the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Tagapaglunsad Class of 1993 to be appointed as Chief of the PNP. He will serve as the institution’s 31st chief.

Before his post at the CIDG, Torre served as Regional Director of Police Regional Office 11 (Davao Region), District Director of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), and Provincial Director of the Samar Police Provincial Office.

As the leadership transition begins, Marbil emphasized the importance of unity and professionalism to maintain the PNP's momentum in implementing reforms aligned with the administration's Bagong Pilipinas governance agenda.

Marbil, the 30th Chief of the PNP, is set to retire on June 7.
