Newly appointed Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director PBrig. Gen. Redrico Maranan on Tuesday, September 5 said he relieved six policemen from their posts following the viral road rage incident.
According to Maranan, three personnel from Galas Police Station and three personnel from the District Traffic Enforcement Unit were relieved immediately and were reassigned to the District Personnel Holding and Accounting Section.
The names of the six policemen were not released.
He said the removal would give way to a "fair and impartial" investigation being conducted on the viral road rage incident that happened on August 8.
The newly-appointed QCPD director assured that they would determine possible lapses comimtted by the policemen in the road rage investigation at the Welcome Rotonda, corner of Quezon Avenue, Brgy. Don Manuel, Quezon City, and involving former policeman Wilfredo Gonzales and cyclist Allan Bandiola.
"Sama-sama nating patutunayan na ang pulis-QC ay laging respetado ang mamamayan," Maranan said.
"We are here to serve, protect, and uplift our community in every way possible," he added.
On August 31, Maranan was appointed as the new acting director of the QCPD following the resignation of Police Brig. General Nicolas Torre III.
Torre filed his courtesy resignation due to the public’s remarks about him after staging a press conference for Gonzales.
