A Manila court has ordered the arrest of two senior officials of the Manila Local Government Unit (LGU) over charges of violating the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.
In a report by RH 29 Boy Gonzales on Thursday, the arrest order was issued by Judge Edilu Hayag, the Presiding Judge of the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 26. Among those ordered arrested are Charlie DJ. Dungo, the head of the Department of Tourism, Culture, and Arts, and Robert Steven Q. Principe, an administrative officer.
According to the court's directive, the two individuals were charged under Section 3 (e) of Republic Act 3019, the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.
The complaint was filed by Dr. Flordeliz Villaseñor, the former head of the Manila Tourism Bureau during the term of former Mayor Erap Estrada.
Judge Hayag explained that after reviewing the submitted evidence, there was sufficient probable cause to warrant the arrest of the accused.
"Upon evaluation of the evidence on record, the court is convinced that there is probable cause to place the accused in custody so as not to frustrate the ends of justice," the order reads.
