The Philippines will have two more bets in the upcoming 2024 Paralympics in Paris, France.

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) announced on Friday, June 28, that wheelchair racer Jerrold Pete Mangliwan and thrower Cendy Asusano qualified for the multi-sport event that will run from August 28 until September 8.

The Paris Paralympics will mark the third appearance of Mangliwan in the quadrennial event after he competed in the 2016 and 2020 editions held in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, and Tokyo, Japan, respectively.

Mangliwan has won six gold medals in the ASEAN Para Games since 2015, and he also ruled the 400 meters T-52 wheelchair event of the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.

Meanwhile, PSC said that Asusano will seek to continue her momentum after a fourth place finish in the women's javelin throw f54 competition of the 2024 World Para Athletics Championships last May in Kobe, Japan.

"Cendy was among the bemedalled para-athlete in the 12th ASEAN Para Games in Cambodia with golds in Shot Put F54 and Javelin Throw F54, and a bronze medal from Discus Throw F54," PSC said in a Facebook post.

With the inclusion of Mangliwan and Asusano, the Philippines now has six athletes who qualified for the upcoming Paralympics.

The other athletes who have secured a spot in the Para Games include taekwondo jin Allain Ganapin, archer Agustina Bantilco, as well as swimmers Ernie Gawilan and Angel Otom.
