A man was found dead floating in floodwaters after coming into contact with a live wire in Tondo, Manila.
The Manila Police District (MPD) reports the body of the victim, identified as David Lipon Gerona, 32, was seen in front of the Immaculada School along Tayuman Street at around 3:30 PM.
Gerona was taken to the Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center by his brother, where the attending nurse was told he had touched a live wire obscured by floodwaters. Gerona was declared dead on arrival.
The MPD did not confirm the cause of death in their report.
Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos appealed to the Manila Electric Company to shut down the electricity in flooded areas so as to avoid similar incidents.
