Malacañang has directed the relevant agencies to cancel the Philippine passport of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo.

"Given the foregoing and in the interest of justice, this Office hereby directs the appropriate action be taken for the cancellation of the Philippine passports of Guo, her family, and Ong," the Memorandum from the Executive Secretary read.

This directive is outlined in a memorandum from the Office of the President to the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Justice, dated August 20 and signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.

The memo states that under the law, the Secretary of Foreign Affairs has the authority to cancel an individual's passport if it is in the interest of national security.

The law specifies that one of the grounds for canceling a Philippine passport is a court order due to the passport holder being a fugitive.

The document states that Guo and her family have arrest warrants for refusing to appear at the Senate investigation into the illegal activities of the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) in Bamban, citing her alleged involvement in the operations.

Alongside Alice Guo, the directive includes the cancellation of passports for Wesley Guo, Sheila Guo, and Katherine Cassandra Ong.
