Makabayan bloc lawmakers filed on Wednesday a resolution directing a House panel to probe into the questionable procurement documents of the newly-launched logo of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).
Gabriela Women's Party Rep. Arlene Brosas, ACT Teachers Partylist Rep. France Castro, and Kabataan Partylist Rep. Raoul Danniel Manuel filed House Resolution No. 1120 after the new PAGCOR logo drew flak on social media as some said it may have been plagiarized.
The procurement document of PAGCOR posted on its website showed that the logo cost a total of ₱3,035,714.

"Controlling inflation, increasing the pay of workers, creating more jobs, and reducing poverty still remains the most urgent national concerns of the Filipino people, yet PAGCOR deemed it necessary to spend P3.036 million of taxpayer's money to replace its logo," the Makabayan bloc lawmakers pointed in HR 1120.
The solons cited that the registration of PrintPlus Graphic Services, the graphic agency behind the logo, was approved last June 14 and it is currently under "red" status.
"Red membership is the default status of registration upon approval of the supplier's registration," they added.
The Makabayan lawmakers directed the Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability to lead the investigation.
"It is imperative for Congress to ensure that public funds are used efficiently and effectively and that government agencies are held accountable for their actions," the solons said.
