Eight Chinese nationals were arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation—Southeastern Mindanao Regional Office (NBI-XI) inside a private subdivision in Davao City on Tuesday afternoon, August 12.
In a report by Jhun Suter in Balansyado, the arrested individuals are believed to be part of an illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub. Authorities recovered more than ten computer sets from the property they were renting.
According to the initial investigation, the Chinese nationals had been renting the location since April of this year to continue their POGO operations.
Atty. Arsenito Albano, NBI Regional Director, stated that the individuals are now in the custody of the NBI while the legal investigation is ongoing.
In recall, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. suspended all POGO operations in the Philippines last December 31, 2024.
