A magnitude 5.4 earthquake rocked Zamboanga del Norte this morning, reported the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

The tectonic quake struck about two kilometers east of the municipality of Siocon at 11:41 AM.

The quake had a depth of focus of 43 kilometers.

Earlier, PHIVOLCS reported its magnitude reached 6.1.
