A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck off the waters of Cagwait, Surigao del Sur on Monday morning, Dec. 11.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the tectonic-in-origin earthquake occurred at 6:52 a.m. It has a depth of 10 kilometers.
PHIVOLCS said no damage and aftershocks are expected.
Surigao del Sur has been attacked by powerful earthquakes, including the magnitude 7.4 that hit the Municipality of Hinatuan on Dec. 2.
On Sunday, Dec. 10, a total of 4,386 aftershocks were recorded, with strength ranging up to magnitude 6.6.
Based on the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) record, three people were reported killed and 76 were reported hurt in Caraga following the magnitude 7.4 earthquake.
