

A magnitude 4.9 earthquake shook Santo Tomas, Davao del Norte, on Monday, May 19.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology’s (PHIVOLCS) earthquake bulletin, it struck the area at 11:41 AM on Monday. It was located at 07.53°N, 125.63°E - 001 km S 67° E of Santo Tomas (Davao Del Norte).
The earthquake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 047 km.
The reported intensities are as follows:

- Santo Tomas, DAVAO DEL NORTE;
- Don Carlos, Impasug-ong, Kadingilan, Kibawe, Manolo Fortich, Maramag, and Quezon, BUKIDNON;
- Antipas, Arakan, City of Kidapawan, Magpet, and President Roxas, COTABATO
Intensity II
- Banisilan, M'lang, Matalam, and Tulunan, COTABATO
Intensity I
- Aleosan and Pikit, COTABATO;
- CITY OF COTABATO
Meanwhile, the instrumental intensities were felt in the following areas:

- San Fernando, BUKIDNON;
- City of Gingoog, MISAMIS ORIENTAL;
- City of Kidapawan and Magpet, COTABATO
Intensity II
- City of Valencia, BUKIDNON;
- Nabunturan, DAVAO DE ORO;
- Matanao, DAVAO DEL SUR;
- CITY OF DAVAO;
- M'lang, COTABATO
Intensity I
- Kalilangan, Libona, and Malitbog, BUKIDNON;
- Balingasag, and Initao, MISAMIS ORIENTAL;
- Magsaysay, DAVAO DEL SUR;
- Pikit, COTABATO;
- City of Bislig, SURIGAO DEL SUR
There is no expected damage or aftershocks from the quake.
Earlier today, the PHIVOLCS announced that the earthquake reached a magnitude of 5.2. However, it was lowered to 4.9, in its second earthquake bulletin.
