The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) will once again place the Luzon and Visayas grids on yellow alert on Friday, April 26.
In its 8 AM advisory, the yellow alert in Luzon will take effect from 2:00 PM–4:00 PM and 8:00 PM–10:00 PM.
NGCP said Luzon Grid's available capacity is 14,535 MW, while peak demand is at 13,751 MW.
"4 plants have been on forced outages since 2023, 4 between January and March 2024, and 14 since April 2024, while 2 others are running on derated capacity, for a total of 1,512.7 MW unavailable to the grid," the advisory read.
Meanwhile, the yellow alert in Visayas will take effect from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Visayas Grid has 2,791 MW of available capacity with a peak demand of 2,530 MW.
"1 plant has been on forced outage since 2022, 2 since 2023, 2 between January and March 2024, and 14 since April 2024; while 8 others are running on derated capacities, for a total of 604.1 MW unavailable to the grid," said the NGCP.
This is the third time Luzon and Visayas will be under yellow alert since April 21, based on NGCP's previous advisories.
