The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) will once again place the Luzon Grid under yellow alert today, April 29, due to a thin power supply.
In its 8AM advisory, NGCP said the yellow alert shall be raised from 3 PM to 5 PM and 8 PM to 11 PM
"4 plants have been on forced outage since 2023, 4 between January and March 2024, and 13 since April 2024; while 1 other is running on a derated capacity, for a total of 1,443.3MW unavailable to the grid," it noted.

The Luzon grid has an available capacity of 14,902MW and a peak demand of 13,823MW.
NGCP first placed the Luzon Grid under yellow alert last April 16 amidst the high heat index in the country.
