One of the big bosses in the controversial Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) was arrested in Biñan, Laguna, on Thursday night, according to the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC).
In a report by Edniel Parrosa, the PAOCC confirmed that Chinese national Lyu Dong had been under surveillance by authorities for nearly a month.
Aside from his involvement with Lucky South 99 in Porac, Pampanga, Lyu Dong was reportedly linked to POGOs operating in various parts of the country, particularly in Central Visayas and Mindanao.
Reports indicated that Lyu Dong was still planning to establish more POGOs across the country.
However, Lyu Dong has denied the allegations, claiming that he was a victim of mistaken identity.
He is currently being held at the PAOCC detention facility in Pasay City, awaiting inquest proceedings.
According to the PAOCC, Lyu Dong began establishing POGOs in 2015.
Meanwhile, 12 Chinese nationals and 9 Filipino POGO workers were also arrested on Friday morning.
The operation was carried out based on a Bureau of Immigration mission order, with the cooperation of CALABARZON police.
Authorities arrested Lyu Dong when he stepped outside his residence to attend an event.
