The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) expressed confidence that the country will resolve its problem with Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) by year-end.
According to PAOCC spokesperson Winston Casio, three major scam hubs have been dismantled since the start of the year, resulting in the arrest of 559 foreign nationals.
Among the operations conducted were raids on a building in Paranaque City, a condominium, and the basement of a hotel in Pasay.
Moreover, the goal aimed to be accomplished by the end of the year will be achieved through the Commission's aggressive campaign, with the collaboration of other government agencies and local government units.
The PAOCC further stated that five Chinese fugitives were taken into custody during the February 17 raid in Paranaque City, while they are awaiting updates from their counterparts on whether any fugitives were captured in the Pasay raids.
Ultimately, the agency pointed out that, despite most scam hubs relocating to smaller residential and commercial spaces, the recent raids indicate that some large-scale operations continue to thrive in major urban centers.
