LTO suspends driver’s license of truck driver that killed 4 minors

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Sunday, Nov. 26, suspended the license of a truck driver involved in a road mishap in Pampanga that left four minor siblings dead.

According to the police report of LTO-Central Luzon, the victims were riding a “kolong-kolong” driven by their father when it was bumped by the Isuzu Forward truck driver from behind, leading the “kolong-kolong” to veer from the other side of the road and get hit by a dump truck.

The father, Edmond Canlapan lost two of his children on the spot with the other two succumbing to injuries at a hospital. The children were aged 2 to 10.

LTO chief Vigor Mendoza ordered a 90-day preventive suspension of the driver’s license. Meanwhile, LTO-Central Luzon Regional Director Ronnie Montejo said the driver was issued a show cause order.

Mendoza said the driver’s suspension would be effective until the LTO-Central Luzon’s probe regarding the case is done.

The LTO chief noted that the incident’s initial report has been submitted to the Department of Transportation (DOTr) secretary Jaime Bautista’s office.
