The Land Transportation Office (LTO) already sent a show-cause order to Binangonan, Rizal councilor who allegedly crashed into a senior citizen, who passed away, last month.
LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza issued a show-cause order to councilor Jerome Antiporda as well as to the alleged driver involved in the road crash that killed the victim, Ana Yap.
In a letter sent by the LTO in response to the complaint of the victim’s family, Antiporda is given five days from the receipt of the show-case order to explain his side and provide reasons to not suspend or revoke his driver’s license.
Based on the document obtained by DZRH News, the barangay desk officer received the show-cause order on September 15, but it is still unclear if it has arrived at the councilor’s house.
CCTV footage showed Antiporda’s Mitsubishi Montero crashed with the deceased Yap while walking in the pedestrian lane, in front of Greenridge Subdivision, and in a hospital zone.
Apart from Mrs. Yap’s untimely death, her family was also angered by the several violations that Antiporda committed, which the latter denied, contradicting the report from the responding traffic management group personnel, which was also reported to the Binangonan Municipal Police Station.
The Yap family’s lawyer, Atty. Grace Aduccol said that they have sued Antiporda in different cases, adding that things are rolling in the court.
In addition to Antiporda’s refusal to deny the accusation that he was under the influence of alcohol while driving, he said in a separate interview that his camp is open to reconciliation with Mrs. Yap’s bereaved family.
